Before You Go |

First thing you should do is visit DennyP.com This is the definitive site where many people chat, find ideas, and plan their trip. I only wish I had known about it before my first trip (we were told about it at the resort during our first trip).
Before you go People always joke about not needing much stuff for a nude beach, but in actuality, you will want to bring some things to Hedo. The joke always told is that once you are done packing for Hedo, take half of it out… this isn’t far from the truth, but you will want some essentials. When it comes to clothes, less is more. During the day, nothing, swimsuits, or very casual clothing is the norm. Since you have been wearing very little during the day (or simply a swimsuit for those that like to hang on the prude side), you will feel overdressed in the evening with a jacket, tie, stockings, etc. To dress up in the evening, pack nice shorts or at most a single pair of lightweight pants with a nice colorful shirt. For the ladies, nice lightweight sundresses work very well. Most nights a casual yet tidy look will suffice for the dining room. Too much clothing will be warm, so remember to pack island style loose natural fiber clothing. Some will want to titillate and dress in a revealing sexy manner at dinner and throughout the evening. That is also well accepted at Hedo. Since you have probably been seen nude on the beach that day, remember that sexy doesn’t always mean “showing everything” but actually is more interesting when it leaves things to the imagination. The official line is to cover all your “naughty bits” at meals. No shoes are required except in Pastafari. So you may be sitting next to someone who has a G-string, pasties, and a mesh body stocking at dinner. You will find yourself wearing little more that a swimsuit for daytime meals, and casual clothes for dinner. Since many of these clothes will be worn for as little as a couple of hours, many people find that a range of 1 shirt and underwear per day is good, while others will go as long as three days with the same clothes. The rooms have large drawers for all of your clothing. In addition there is a hanging closet that has a floor shelf for shoes, and a top shelf for putting items like sweatshirts or bags. Bring a carry on bag that can accommodate a toilet bag and a change of clothes. We always leave late in the day, so after leaving our room, we check our bags and then spend the day on the beach. We then shower and change for the ride home in the gym. Some others will offer to store your bags and let you use the shower in their room. Either way it helps ease that last day along. Some suggested items to bring: Bring sunscreen. Bring more than you would typically. Remember you are probably putting sunscreen on parts of you that haven’t seen much sun. You need more than usual to cover all those parts. Sunglasses and or a hat. Sitting in the sun all day (or even just walking around) can take its toll on your eyes. A nightlight for the bathroom. The light switch is on the outside of the room and it's pretty bright in the middle of the night. Lysol spray the air conditioning units. This helps prevent getting a cold / cough. Some people like to bring a lanyard to keep hang your room key on. I personally don’t have a problem with the elastic straps they provide. I simply put it around my ankle which is more comfortable than wearing it on your wrist (for me Woolite or my favorite Dr. Bonner’s peppermint soap (find it at camping supply stores like www.campmor.com). This comes in handy for washing anything in the sink. If you plan on using the sheets that they provide, (they leave extras on your bed for toga night) bring safety pins, rope belts, or anything else that would help create your toga. Travel alarm clock. I like to have a back up for the mornings that I really have something planned like scuba diving. Sexy clothing for both men & women. You do not have to be built like Adonis to pull this stuff off. This is one of the few places on the planet where attitude will overcome looks every time. This is one of the only places you can dress this way and act this way without anyone getting upset (they will actually encourage you at a Hedo). You don’t need a hair dryer. The rooms all have decent hair dryers that work very well. CD's for the CD player in your room. We like to burn a few “Hedo” CD’s with island music, Jimmy Buffet, etc. This is nice for playing when you are back in the room changing, etc. Sexy Lingerie for theme nights, outfits and costumes for the other nights. Don’t be shy when you are packing… nobody else will be shy! Sandals. You can go barefoot if you've got tough feet (small rocks or heat). Your feet will swell due to overdrinking, and the heat, so make sure you have some loose shoes for the ride home. Some people like to bring air mattresses to float on just off the nude beach. If you are one of those people, write your name and the dates you will be there on the raft so that people know when to leave it for you. Temporary tattoos. Glitter, latex body paints, and body paint are lots of fun. Even if you aren’t an artist, you will make friends with people who can help you. A couple of finger painted lines with some glitter on top are still a lot of fun. Glow in the dark toys are always fun Business (personal) cards if you want to make contact with people again. Disposable camera for pictures in the main areas. Some people swear by bringing oversized mugs for larger drinks. The large insulated plastic mugs cut down on the trips to the bar. I personally like to visit the bar more often. I find it an excuse to socialize, and smaller drinks keep my alcohol intake down to a dull roar. I like to be aware of what is going on, and at most slightly buzzed. All you can drink can turn into a hazy morning if you don’t watch it. Basic first aid items like Imodium, band-aids, sunburn cream, Aspirin, Tylenol, and/or Advil. A great attitude, and an open mind |
